Gratitude: Appreciating Colleagues and Clients
Several years ago, at a conference, I picked up what turned out to be one of my favorite swag items - a small booklet of sticky notes called “Cultivating Gratitude.” Created by the National Institute of Education at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, it has stayed on my desk ever since, and I’ve used several of its pages. With Thanksgiving season upon us, I am reminded of this booklet again, as this is the perfect time to pause and express gratitude for the remarkable people who make our professional lives meaningful, from students and their families to colleagues and clients.
Thankful for Colleagues
I must say, my colleagues are not just coworkers; they are my work family. We inspire, support, and partner with each other in ways that make the work both meaningful and enjoyable. Their dedication, creativity, and teamwork not only help us achieve our goals but also foster a positive and motivating work environment. We work smart, have fun, and celebrate family milestones together. Every project, collaboration, challenge, and celebration underscores the importance of strong professional relationships.
Appreciating Our Clients
Our clients’ commitment to students and their families is the reason we do what we do and strive to do more and better. Their trust in our expertise fuels our passion and motivates us to improve continually. Building relationships with our clients based on transparency, dedication, and mutual respect contributes to success on both sides. It is truly a privilege to support the important work our clients do across the country through our evaluation work.
A Moment of Appreciation
This Thanksgiving, I would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to all my colleagues and clients. Your trust, collaboration, and partnership are truly appreciated. I hope we all continue to express gratitude to those who contribute to our growth, both personally and professionally.
P.S. Wishing everyone a warm and wonderful Thanksgiving!
